« Make healthy hydration the new norm »

European Federation of the Associations of Dietitians

In 2016 Danone Nutricia Research and EFAD joined efforts to create the Healthy Hydration Awareness Campaign (EuHHAC).

Prof. De Looy speaks about the importance of hydration science for dietitian practice.

In order to create a hydration course for dietitians, it was important to assess current state of knowledge on hydration science of dietitians. A survey was conducted and allowed to illustrate that:
• 50% do not have up-to-date EFSA recommendations for water adequate intake
• 48% are not familiar with the definition of clinical dehydration
• 27% think water is not included in their national guidelines
• 43% do not know how to advice patient on healthy hydration
