World Kidney Day

Kidney diseases affect 850 million people worldwide and can be prevented. Highlighting the risk factors and giving everyone, everywhere the keys to maintain healthy kidney throughout their life is crucial.

World Kidney Day is an annual global campaign aimed at raising awareness of the importance of our kidneys to our overall health and at reducing the frequency and impact of kidney disease and its associated health problems worldwide.

Hydration for Health supports World Kidney Day

Among the risk factors of kidney-related disease, healthy and sufficient hydration is one of the 8 golden rules to protect your kidneys.

Indeed, it was demonstrated that:

  • An additional water intake of 1,5L per day reduces Urinary Tract Infection recurrence by 50% in women. More here
  • Dehydration is the #2 cause of Acute Kidney Injury according the O by 25 ISN Initiative. More here.
  • An additional water intake of 1.3 L reduces the risk of kidney stones. More here

As such, Hydration for Health support World Kidney Day ‘s mission and believes that kidney diseases can be prevented by having knowledge about the risk factors and by implementing healthy behaviors changes.

World Kidney Day launched a challenge for this 2020 campaign about the 8 Golden Rules, participate to this #MyGr8Rules, challenge and help us to raise awareness about the benefits of hydration for kidney health prevention.
